Wash and soak them for 20 mins. Drain the water and add the dal in a deep pan along with 4cups of water, salt, green chilly ginger chopped and turmeric
Boil the dal till dal is tender and gets mashy. remove and keep aside.
For the tadka heat a pan and add ghee. Add Hing, jeera and saute till crackel.
Now add green chilli, mustard seeds and saute for a minute. Now add tomatoes into the tadka and cook till soft.
Add salt and red chilli powder.
Add cooked Dal and adjust the consistency of water.
Garnish with coriander leaves and a dash of lemon juice if required.
